Congratulations to the Sardis Lions boy’s golf
team for winning the 3A, Section 4 Championship. Sardis posted a
team score of 333 at Silver Lakes Golf Club to win the title.
Congratulations to Glencoe Boys team for
finishing second in the 3A, Section 4 Championship.
Individually, Sardis’ Jesse Force was the
low medalist with a 79. He was tied with Glencoe’s Reece Wagon
but won a one-hole playoff. Sardis Kevin Chastain was third with
an 82, while Christopher Tinker won fourth with an 83.
Glencoe’s Reese Tolbert also qualified as an individual with a score
of 87.
Congratulations to Gadsden City’s Tanner Roberts
who tied for low medalist in the Class 6A, Section 4 tournament.
Roberts carded an even-par 71 at Decatur Country Club and will play in
the sub-state competition.
Westbrook Christian boy’s golf team claims
Class 1A-2A, Section 2 boy’s golf tournament at Silver Lakes Golf
Course. The team shot a combined total of 343. Defending 1A-2A
individual state champion Will Catanzaro shot a 2-over-par 74 to
earn low medalist honors. Catanzaro’s teammate Jimmy Clokey,
finished second with an 82. Andrew Crawford, Alex Hilton
and Ian Thompson rounded out the Westbrook team.
Etowah junior Ashleigh Whisenant wins the
individual low medalist at the Class 1A-5A, Section 4 girl’s
tournament held at Goose Pond. Whisenant shot a four-over-par 76.
Glencoe girl’s golf team finishes fourth at
the Girls Class 1A-5A, Section 4 golf tournament. The team was made up
of Brittney Watkins with a 91, Brittany Weems with a 92,
Hope Bishop with a 95 and Jordyn Clowdus with a 97.
Other teams competing in the field included
Westbrook, which shot a 310. Jessie Lawley led the Warriors
with an 87, good enough to earn a spot as an individual at sub-state.
Ella Lawley added a 95 for Westbrook.
The Gadsden City Titans girl’ golf team
finished in third place in the Class 6A, Section 3 tournament at
Highland Park, in Birmingham. The Titans finished third with a total of
269. The Titans qualified for the sub-state tournament at Point Mallard
in Decatur.
Amanda Richey fired a 79 to lead all Gadsden
City individuals. Richey also tied for third overall. Danielle
Hodge shot an 81 and Courtney Jenkins shot a 109.
